A Message from our Publisher

I've had the travel bug ever since my first summer job during college — escorting tour groups around Europe to evaluate them for my parents' travel company. When I retired from the paper business ten years ago I set out on a journey to find the 100 most fun places to be in the world, and research the best time to experience them. The challenge of unearthing the world’s greatest events—from the Opera Ball in Vienna to the Calgary Stampede — led me to write a guidebook.

The success of The Fun Also Rises, named after Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises, which helped popularize what has become perhaps the most thrilling party on earth (Pamplona's Fiesta de San Fermín, also known as the Running of the Bulls), persuaded me that there were others who shared my interest in a different approach to travel. Guidebooks were neither informative nor exciting enough to capture peak experiences — whether for world-class events or just a night on the town.

Night+Day, the first series from Pulse Guides, is for Gen-Xers to Zoomers (Boomers with a zest for life), who know that if one wants to truly experience a city, the night is as important as the day. Night+Day guides present the best that a city has to offer — hotels, restaurants, nightlife and attractions that are exciting without being stuffy — in a totally new format.
