Bettie Page Boutique
Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood,
3667 Las Vegas Blvd. S,
Center Strip, 702-636-1100 bettiepageclothing.com
The Draw: Bettie Page was a pin-up icon in the 1950s, known for her raven bangs, curvaceous bod, and kinky poses. This is her store. The Scene: The Las Vegas boutique—and flagship store—opened in March 2007 and is full of flirty polka-dot dresses, platform Mary Janes, corsets, and fishnet stockings that are a tribute to the delightfully naughty Ms. Page. The leopard-and-pink store is bedecked with Bettie artwork by Playboy magazine artist Olivia de Berardinis and outfitted with a retro television showing Bettie mid-strip. Hot Tip: Don’t miss the spanking machine in the back room.
The Draw: The world’s largest gambling store welcomes Vegas history buffs, poker players, thrift shoppers, and Hollywood movie types stocking up on gear for Ocean’s 14. The Scene: This 8,000-sqare-foot space is jam-packed with antique slot machines, gaming tables, roulette wheels, collectible chips, used casino cards, vintage signs, strategy books, and all varieties of kitschy Vegas souvenirs (including fuzzy dice and funny money). Hot Tip: Best buys include
exclusive GGS poker chips (we like the Classic Mudflap Girl) for when you get
together with the guys or gals for a night of No-Limit Hold ’Em.
Neil Leifer Gallery
Caesars Palace, 3570 Las Vegas Blvd S., Center Strip
702-731-7110
The Draw: The gallery is the only permanent tribute to the photographer’s images, which have appeared on covers of Time, Sports Illustrated, and People. The Scene: Located in the Augustus Tower, the gallery is free—and most people come to look, not to buy. Highlights include Secretariat winning the Kentucky Derby, Muhammad Ali standing over a defeated Sonny Liston, and President Kennedy at baseball’s opening day in 1961. Hot Tip: If you like Leifer’s work, but don’t have $1,000 (or more) to spend, pick up a copy of The Best of Leifer.
